River Tunnel
Salt Lake City International Airport

Location: Salt Lake City, UT
Project Year: 2021
Project Status: Completed
Client: Gordon Huether Studio

River Tunnel is an immersive sculptural passage defined by flowing geometry, layered transparency, and the sensation of movement through space. Developed alongside Gordon Huether and the team at Brave Design, the project transforms circulation into a spatial experience where art, architecture, and motion converge within a continuously unfolding environment.

Process

My involvement focused on digital form development, visualization, and fabrication-oriented modeling, helping translate the artistic vision into coordinated production geometry. Through iterative 3D studies and spatial refinement, I supported the development of the installation’s geometry while balancing experiential intent with fabrication logic and constructability requirements.

Design Intent

The installation was conceived to shift movement through the space from a purely functional transition into an experiential journey. Through repetition, transparency, and fluid structural rhythm, the design creates changing perceptions of depth, light, and motion—encouraging a dynamic relationship between the viewer and the environment as they move through it.
